The 15th Royal Voice Festival Turned Out The Most Impressive In The Six Years of Its Existence
On May 14, visitors of the Royal Voice Festival managed to hear vocal compositions of various genres, ranging from traditional chants to music by contemporary composers. Even folk songs were a perfect fit for the atmosphere of this music forum. The chants were performed in Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Aramaic.
Learning To Fight The Sin
Archpriest Andrew Lemeshonok: We have to be extremely cautious during this period of celebration so that we don't lose our way. If we relax even for a single moment, we will immediately face a temptation. We should be aware of the fact that everything is fine only when a person does not lose his connection to God. As soon as he loses it, he is already lost. You can't tell how far astray he will go. This is why you should stop in your tracks immediately and cry out like children who lost their parents do, «Dad, where are you?» We cry «Lord, where are You? I'm lost!»
What You Should Be Listening To During This Blessed Season of Holy Pascha
We recommend two albums released by the audio studio of Saint Elisabeth Convent: Holy Pascha and Flowers of Joy and Sorrow. Pascha is more than just a feast; it is the core of Christian faith. This recording of a Paschal service was born of a burning desire to convey the all-embracing joy that permeates Orthodox worship during the days of the Bright Resurrection of Christ. Hymns that represent znamenny, Greek, Valamo, Bulgarian and Obikhod chants are performed by the Monastic Choir of St Elisabeth Convent.
Our Convent Opens A New Spiritual Education Centre
The Sisterhood in honour of the Holy Martyr Grand Princess Elisabeth takes the lead in the launch of a new Spiritual Education Centre in Minsk State Medical College. The chapel will be situated in the college dormitory (35/1 Čkalava vul.). This chapel is to be consecrated on May 4 at 5 PM. At the beginning of the Bright Week, the sisters of mercy have congratulated many students of the city on Pascha. According to Sister Marina Yaskevich, "Our Sisterhood was eager to share the joy of the Resurrection of Christ with young people. Not every young person will go to church, so we decided to move a little closer to them.
There Is No Death!
Archpriest Andrew Lemeshonok
This night is a small coin that will be added up to our treasury in the heaven. We haven't slept, we are tired — great! We are doing it for the Lord's sake. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling (cf. Ps. 2:11). We should share this droplet of love, this portion of grace, with everyone around us. Like little lanterns, we will spread out across this huge city and illuminate the places we go to and the people whom we greet with — «Christ is Risen!»
The XV Royal Voice Orthodox Music Festival: A Heads Up
The Royal Voice Festival turns a new page. This important and noteworthy event for everyone who loves choir singing is going to be held for the fifteenth time already! This time, the Festival will be held in St Elisabeth Convent on May 14 and 15. Choirs from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine will perform in front of the audience. Very soon we will be able to dive into the rich world of spiritual music. Today we invite you to look back on the six years of the festival's history and talk about the upcoming event.
To Die and To Rise From The Dead
Archpriest Andrew Lemeshonok
Someone might say, «Oh, the Lent has been so difficult, I've had to work so hard!» Another person might argue, «Oh, it has been so easy: I did not want to eat anything at all, and I have felt so powerful!» Whose experience is more valuable? The experience of the first person was more precious because he invested a lot into it. It appears to us that praying, fasting, and humbling ourselves down is so painful. What else would you expect? Narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life (cf. Matthew 7:14).

God Sets Us Free From The Past
Archpriest Demetrius Basalygo
Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeev) had an argument with one of his theology students with regard to the issue of whether all sins are forgiven during a confession. The student believed that only those sins that one named during the confession were forgiven. Metropolitan Hilarion claimed that all sins, named and unnamed alike, were forgiven during the confession. The student set forth to look for the proof of his opinion in the writings of the Holy Fathers...
Every Christian Is a Warrior
Priest Valery Zakharov: Sometimes we are disturbed that our petitions related to earthly needs are not fulfilled, and it seems to us that the Lord doesn't hear us. We want to get everything: we would like to live a long and healthy life, with pleasant people, having abundance and peace with our family and children — in short, we want everything to be excellent in this life. God is interested in more than that. He wants us to inherit the Heavenly Kingdom. More often than not, earthly possessions become an obstacle to this.
There Is No Greater Power
Archpriest Andrew Lemeshonok: The earthly life of a Christian is a road to Christ who hangs on the Cross. This is a journey when someone takes up his own cross and defies human reasoning and all earthly cares. One has to walk down this path in just a couple of decades that we have at hand to be able to decide for ourselves, to consciously choose this road, to demonstrate our resolution. It isn't as simple as it sounds. On the one hand, the world coaxes us into standing up for our own rights and not letting others insult us.
Brace Up For The Fight
The Rev Valery Zakharov
God's mercy outweighs all our sins but this does not mean that we may go on sinning as long as we want to. It means that we should not be depressed when sins throw us down into the mud. We must rise up, purify ourselves, and keep going. This is, perhaps, what St Tikhon of Zadonsk called 'a Christian's way' — going from a downfall to a downfall, and rising up again every time. We should not lie down for a long time; we should not be depressed; we should struggle with our sins to the best of our abilities.
